This is a normal post I think the word you are reaching around for is 'camp'.
...Which does not always amount to the same thing. I've known a few shockingly fabulous heterosexual men in my time.

This is a normal post I enjoy your insane mental gymnastics
The most embarrassing thing they can imagine him to be is not a flamboyant straight man, it's a mincing fucking poof. It's straightforwardly 70s-style homophobic. But neither they, nor you, would have the courage to admit it.

This is a normal post so all gays sound alike? I think you're selling both Serafinowicz and the audience short
The joke is not something like "gays are bad, making trump seem gay is bad" in your reductionist view
Serafinowicz is doing quite a specific persona, a shallow camp self obsessed gay voice . He first tried this out on some youtube vids (www.youtube.com/watch?v=Er8oLlIdwxI) by verbatim imitating Trump in this voice, and it worked not because it's a funny voice, but because it fit the content of Trump words quite well. Because what he says is drivel: shallow, self-obsessed, and yes, campy or schoolgirlish. It wouldn't work nearly as well on people who don't go on with a lot of indulgent bullshit. Trey and Matt must have seen his vids and collaborated.
It's also why it works well on that woman who lip syncs trump. It's what he says that's funny (www.youtube.com/watch?v=CCkWzr1o4EU)

This is a normal post So it's OK because it's a stereotypical gay voice?
And because Trump sounds bent? I mean, I just want to get this clear because I don't think you'd be defending it if it were Jim fucking Davidson.

This is a normal post I said the opposite of stereotypical. "specific persona" were the words I used
part of acceptance of gays in mainstream culture is accepting that not all gay people are going to be portrayed sympathetically, just like heterosexual people. There are shallow, self-obsessed, thick gay people worthy of mockery, who flood my facebook with endless selfies, just as there are shy, undemonstrative conservative gays who spend 50 thousand quid on some bamboo garden redesign then get upset when I dangle my feet in their koi pond. it doesn't signify a homophobic attack on all gays, I think it's you who are still stuck in the 70s era, tilting at windmills. Your jim davidson equivalence just makes it seem even more that you're fighting the wrong battle. the tweets where he posted the video didn't attract any "Trump is gay!" comments, I think people are more sophisticated than you think

This is a normal post Ah, but address the point
Would it be OK by you if Nazi pug bloke did a similar limp-wrists and dances number on 'Screaming' Joe Biden?

This is a normal post Right, this might be a bit nuanced...
... but what Serafinowicz did, and where the humour came from, was not “LOL what if Trump was GAY!”

The humour came from astutely observing, pre his actually winning the 2016 election, that we were all so quickly desensitised to Trump’s manner that just by *being* Trump, he got away with a lot of things that were under the level of “grab’em by the pussy” but we’re still batshit crazy. Taking his words and saying them in a different voice was a comedic way of actually highlighting the ridiculousness. I suspect that “sassy Trump” was settled on because Trump, despite his clear self image as a tough guy, is actually quite effeminate in his gestures. This made for an interesting portrayal, and maybe the only portrayal, of Trump that actually hit the right notes while caricaturing as aspect of his personality that is present, but that Trump himself is clearly uncomfortable with.

Well looks like cumquat's been KOd. And I have no argument with you. And brb below doesn't remotely understand nuance or the issues at play, and is painfully conscious of it. So let's wrap this up by hoping that America hires the gayest man for the job.

Not sure what you mean by "Nazi pug bloke", possibly a meme that's passed me by. But my answer would be "probably", as it takes a lot to offend me. I find a lot of my online arguments have a theme of "be less judgemental, more tolerant, we're all flawed in some way".
But I am a fan of humour, and I find bad jokes, or ones whose only humour is cruelty without redeeming features, a greater sin in my books. A gay dancing biden sounds pretty lame. Where's the humour? Is there anything being satirised? The exception are jokes whose humour derives from how over-the-top offensive they are, like 'the aristocrats', which are shared among people who have the intelligence to admire the offensive craftmanship without sharing the sentiments

This is a normal post I apologise for the presence of cumquat may, he regularly inserts himself uninvited into these private discussions on this public message board.
Is there something wrong with being 'a mincing poof'?
Do you think that Ivanka Trump speaks like 'a mincing poof'?
Do you think that any depiction of an ultra-camp homosexual character is an impediment to gay liberation?
Can a funny voice be funny without demeaning someone, somehow?
Do you understand what sass means?
