This is a normal post ^This.
I have back issues too, so have some sympathy from one who knows. Maybe you can find a decent stretch from a decent physiotherapist that can sort it out a little. Avoid chiro witch doctors and well meaning hippy idiots if you can.

This is a normal post Thank you - it seems exercise (as much as is possible) is the key
the dog is already used to waiting half an hour between waking up and getting fed downstairs, but after that I'm fairly mobile

A pull up bar helped me loads when my back went a few years ago. Not for actual pull-ups but for stretching my spine whilst keeping my feet on the floor.

This is a normal post Spine stretching is good
I used to go to fetish nights and get (gently) pulled on the rack before the start of the night (No, really)

I also found those 'old people nursing home' chairs with the big backs to be quite good when you get to the point of being able to sit up again. Or a good reclining office chair (not the little ones, the big ones with the padding and good arms) on full recline. I found it reduced spinal compression when sitting.

Aside from that, just floating in a swimming pool and moving your back slowly front to back and side to side helps get some movement back.

Or laying flat on two of the firm hospital foam mats, the ones they have in the emergency room on the trolleys.

Anything that will allow your muscles to relax and forget they are in spasm. The hard bit is getting up again without them freaking out and going back into spasm...

This is a normal post Fetish rack is an ace idea!
I lie flat in a hot bath to relieve back pain (arthritis and sciatica).

This is a normal post I'm glad I didn't chuck out my dad's Old Peoples Chair, sticks and bathroom handles
after he died. I will try the swimming thing, that sounds nice, thanks.
