for my work I have a few presets that I spent a lot of time googling at the time but have mostly forgotten what I did. In general, small tweaks are fine to get a bit more warmth, but if you want to make a shitty day look like a sunny one you're going to get a noticeably artificial look to it. this can be fine, plenty of music and surf videos crank it up to alice in wonderland trippiness. But it's a choice, and to me showing the beach on a windswept choppy day has a stark beauty to it, and not exactly out of the ordinary for wales. embrace the natural palette of colours
Another suggestion is the striptease. Don't open your coat and show them everything straight away. You could start with a tracking shot pointing straight down showing nothing but moving sand, or the waterline. Pique their interest. "What am I looking at? Where am I?" and then gradually build to the majestic wide shots, the final reveal and climax. It all learning, and thinking about the edit will inform the next time you film, what shots you go for

You don’t want the audience to know it’s real until the end.

You'd have to film yourself inventing the time machine as well.
