It's the 'elephant in the room'. It IS unusual, and what's funny to me is the fact that nobody mentions it. It would probably take the funny away if 'Olivia' just went 'Hi, I'm Olivia. Yes, I'm about to be a woman, so let's move on and do the quiz'.
Someone I know at work is a 60+ year old transvestite. It was wierd at first, but we found that what usually happens is we go 'Nice dress', have a chuckle, and then spend the rest of the evening forgetting he's cross-dressing. Same rule applies, i guess.
