by getting hold of a polystyrene head, from an arts store, and inserting a pair of clip on mics where the ears would be.
...wont be quite as good as one of these, but it'll be a fuck load cheaper and apparently you can get good results.

I've got a set of those in my desk drawer! I've only ever used them for recording room ambience. Oh, and once I strolled around St Paul's at night with one on each lapel, recording into a minidisc (which says how long ago that was).

Whereas stereo only gives you left, right and distance, binaural gives the sensation of up, down, front and back as well.

maybe my headphones are crap, also find it hard to imagine scissors cutting my hair because I have a shaved head, although that's missing the point I think.
