apparently a meteor the size of a house would have the effect of a nuclear bomb
they hit the earth every 100 years I think, so we should be in for a treat soon

yeah they reckon the tunguska explosion was a meteorite that exploded in the air
that one was around 100 meters and 10-15 megatons according to wikipedia
It is possible that a smaller one could have hit since then and was just too far away from anywhere to be noticed though

they aren't even looking for stuff that size, so you'd only detect it from the massive explosion melting your face off

The cosmos fascinates me, if a neighbouring star goes supernova the chances are the shockwave of lethal radiation is going to wipe us all out
thank goodness Jupiter has the habit of soaking so much of these cosmic pebbles heading our way
