I'm of an age when some of the most popular computer games of the time were independently created by some geek in their bedroom who didn't think that the world owed them fame and fortune.

I was glad to see Edmund McMillen finally get some success
I used to play a lot of his games on Newgrounds; he's been making great stuff for a long time.
