I realise it's a bit Daily Mail to gloat about how things were better back then, but damn London was a beautiful place then. Although that might have something to do with the richness of the addictive colour film stock Friese-Greene used.

This is a normal post When I lived in Southampton a few years ago I visited the dock museum and was stunned by how beautiful it was
before Ze Germans decimated it. Parts of the waterfront still are, but so much was lost.

Lovely Ikea there now though.

This is a normal post The good thing about film is that you don't have to breathe the smoggy, stinking air that was around.
But I generally agree with all this. Bring back the motor- and trolley-buses. There's still the entrance and rails to the old trolley-bus tunnel north of Kingsway. Always wanted to have a nose down there for some reason.
