"Lets make some stupid noises and drag a one-line gag out for an entire scene! It's funny because we're doing it on purpose, WINK WINK!"
Americans are terrible at comedy.

Americans are terrible at comedy?
But haven't you seen funnymancharlie? Or Daniel Songer? Or Seinfeld?

Did Seinfeld ever make you actually laugh ever?
The country that produced Cheers and Frasier never has to hang it's head for shame in the comedy world.

Yeah I watched it the other night,
it's not quite as good as I remembered it.

That's the problem with that Michael watsisface
He was never all that funny. Cool at doing Hendrix guitar solos, but not a lot else. I swear I can hear him almost laugh at 0.42
Funniest line in the movie is "Oh, your helmet is so big"

Spaceballs makes me feel like the only sane man in the world
I love Mel Brooks - Young Frankenstein and Blazing Saddles are among my favourite movies - but Spaceballs is horribly, awfully, painfully unfunny. Why do people like it?
It's the only DVD I've ever returned to the shop for being rubbish.

I guess they love to see the piss get taken out of Star Wars by something that isn't a special edition or prequel

I like Spaceballs, in a stupid and corny way.
Could barely watch most of Blazing Saddles though. The humour just didn't compute.

Brooks is hit-and-miss a lot of the time for me
Some absolute gems swimming in a vat of overused cheap gags.
Robin Hood was good. (How much of that is down to Cary Elwes being able to deliver a line I'm not sure).

A lot of the main characters are pretty well played in that, which helps.
The Sheriff of Rottingham is a lot of fun.

History of the World Part 1 is his best work I think,
especially as Spike Milligan was in it.
