Clapham North's 'thought for the day'
In an attempt to give their customers a bit of pep, someone at the station puts these tiresome, trite homilies on a whiteboard every morning. One of my friends dutifully posts it to Facebook too. Ugh. If travelling on the Northern Line in the morning wasn't hateful enough.

“A quotation is a handy thing to have about, saving one the trouble of thinking for oneself, always a laborious business."
Cunts at Tottenham Court Road regularly have these. The other week they had "The best preparation for good work tomorrow is to do good work today" or some other such bollocks. I actually burst out laughing when I saw it. What's so funny? asked station staff.
"The irony. You over-unionised bastards are always on strike."

When Bob Crow died
The staff at Warren Street erected a little shrine to him with a big photo on an easel and flowers. It was quite nice, actually.

Faust is a masterpiece. Genuinely.
Reducing Goethe to platitudes mindlessly scrawled on white boards, less so.
