Bummer
But only a matter of time I suppose. I didn't expect him to last too long after they sawed his leg off.
Solid Air is one of the best albums ever made, imho.

Yep, gutted.
One of my biggest influences (musically that is, I can't say he's influenced my lifestyle much as I've never accidentally nailed a carpet over my unconcious bassist, whilst laying it in a drug-fuelled refurbishment frenzy).
Solid Air and Bless the Weather. Awesome. His transitional period is peerless. Just been getting into the later stuff too (Collins - gah!) and loving Grace and Danger despite its slickness.
Incredible guitarist, songwriter, performer. I hope he's reunited with his leg.

The Collins Period!
Run away! I saw him a couple of years ago in Cheltenham. I was a touch disappointed to be honest. It was a load of layered delay pedal stuff that he mumbled through. The Guardianistas in the audience liked it though. I just wanted all of Solid Air and Bless the weather played back to back, then back to back again.

Yeah so I've heard
Never went to see him for just that reason. People always say you either got bombarded with self indulgent echoplex wankery and growling for the duration or got a blinding acoustic set (hopefuly with Danny Thompson. Leg. End.) Didn't want to take the risk and get the former. Would kill to have seen him in the 70s though.

Very true
And I hope 'Leg end' isn't a pun you naughty scamp.

:( Sad news.
Today I shall be mostly listening to his songs, which, for anyone interested, are almost all streamable on last.fm.
RIP.

Sad news
I heard this on the radio a little while ago. Solid Air is a beautiful album, I think I'll put it on now and have a little mourn.
RIP John.
