That's a nice idea
It would be even better if it could be interactive for the viewer so you could focus on a point of interest in the present and then scroll back to see how it changes over time. I suspect the tool used to generate the video allows you to do just that!

Reminds me that a lot of towns/cities
started off just as a place to cross a river, people traded with travellers funnelled into the place to cross the river, built houses, businesses etc to better trade with river crossers, and then it all just snowballed from there
