When I was younger the violence in Northern Ireland was called "the troubles" and it was bad and one half the community got discriminated against and everyone ignored that all the discrimination was amplified against both halves of the working class.
Now the sectarian discrimination is officialy gone and anyone linked to either Sinn Féin or the DUP can get a public job and everybody ignores the fifteen months of continuous rioting and the 600 gun and bomb attacks in the last eight years because peace process.
HOORAY.

I remember the voices of certain NI politicians being banned on TV & voice-overs being used instead.
Never understood the point; the political messages were still communicated.

Gerry Adams looks like a deputy headteacher and Martin McGuinness looks like a clown without the makeup.

That was a fightback by journalists after years of censorship.
They felt, rightly in my opinion, that censoring terrorists didn't work, so they made a mockery of the censorship laws by finding loopholes. Most of the people involved, in both Britain and Ireland, in originating the voice-over scam had no time for Sinn Féin (at whom the censorship was mainly aimed) but they helped end a fucking stupid policy that both our countries implemented.

If you used proper words instead of all this begorrah potato nonsense people wouldn't try to censor you.
We're just protecting ourselves from having to listen to gibberish.
