this is only vaguely true, most Trekkies couldn't care less what you call them as long as there's another pint coming at the end of it

You should also be careful about the distinction between Trekkies and Trekkers

A Trekkie
- will have an opinion on their favourite captain;
- may wear a Starfleet uniform occasionally, at parties;
- may know a few words of Klingon
- wonders what sex would be like in free-fall.

A Trekker
- will fight to the death to defend their favourite captain;
- has a hand-made Starfleet uniform with authentic, limited edition accessories;
- composes poetry in Klingon;
- wonders what sex would be like.
