This is a question When Animals Attack

I once witnessed my best friend savaged near to death by a flock of rampant killer sheep.

It's a kill-or-be-killed world out there and poor Steve Irwin never made it back alive. Tell us your tales of survival.

Trout have teeth.
Oh yes, the little fuckers do.
Catch one, stick a pair of needle nose pliers down their throat to get the hook out so you can gently stick it back in the water.......they WILL bite you! Hard!
But not as bad as catfish. Common misconception is that catfish whiskers are poisonous. Not at all. They have barbs on their fins, actually. And they're fucking sharp. The correct way to handle a catfish is to hold your right hand behind the fins on their side, and then hold you left hand behind their dorsal fin - that way the barbs won't get you.
Heaven help you if you're too drunk and it's your first time catching one.......blood, pierced hand.....stinging pain and infection for a week afterwards....

i was lucky and there was a real fisherman with forceps and everything to help me out (you know the guys with a tent three rods optonics bite alarms and everything but the kitchen sink) this was not at any carp lake. it was on the canal 5 min walk from camden market

I have a dehooker now
But I've only been fishing 18 months so it's been a learning curve.
Catfish are still evil.

Ohhhhh - top tip suggestion:
To get the muddy smell off a catfish filet, rub it with salt after fileting it. Just be careful with the knife. *cringes*

Don't be such girls!
Trout have tiny weeny teeth, no sharper than sandpaper! Try catching a tope or a conger eel. Those feckers will take a couple of your fingers as soon as look at you.

For a closer comparison though, try the common LSD (Leser spotted dogfish). They really do have skin like heavy sandpaper and they wriggle and squirm while you're trying to unhook them. When I first caught one, the mates I was with shared an interesting tale of some bloke who was fishing topless one sunny day and lost a nipple by not holding an LSD properly.

As a little aside, (sea) Bass gill covers are sharp as blades and will easily do enough damage to stop you fishing for a while.
