Yep.A few years back, when my father had to spend a while in hospital, we would do that: either offer the ticket to someone approaching the machine, or leave it stuck on there. Quite a few times we were offered one with a couple of hours left on it, or found one on the machine. It's extremely nice to do, especially as NHS carparks are hideously expensive.
