But I know what you mean - the amount of computers I've sorted for people who've put them into a 'professional' shop for fixing and got them back in the same condition or worse...me? almost totally self taught (29 years of 'puter experience - can still remember the first day I walked past the school computer room and spied the glowing black and green screens...)

Aye, me too....
I've about 25 years experience of fixing, building, repairing, servicing, installing PC's and networks, internet fixing, virus clearing etc. etc. and I can't get a job doing what I know best cos I don't have a fucking microsoft qualification. The amount of times I've had to fix stuff that 'my mates lad fixed, he's just done computers at uni so he knows what he's doing' bollocks, or fucking PC World (allegedly). Does me heed in...
