Beautiful Moments, Part Two
Last week I saw a helium balloon cross the road at the lights on a perfectly timed gust of wind. Today I saw four people trying to get into a GWiz electric car. They failed.
What's the best thing you've seen recently?

A835
Driving from Inverness to Ullapool (a journey that started in the Midlands !). At a certain point the road became something you would see in a car advert or in Top Gear. A wide glacial valley with a small river meandering through it. The road is raised slightly above it all. No trees and no obstructions to sight. No traffic ! Just foot down and a racing line for every corner. All done in a Peugeot 106 (diesel). 55 bhp no less !

I know exactly where you are talking about
I drove that road in April, just as the sun was going down, took the racing line too! Only I was in a rented Ford Focus.

i know that road!
and i know the bit you're talking about.
going to skye a few years ago a guy on an r1 gave me the nod so i nipped in behind him and followed his line for what seemed like about a thousand miles. he clearly knew the road!
mile after mile of beautiful tarmac and not a speed camera or police car in sight.
i love the way that each left hander (heading towards ullapool) offers a perfect view up the valley and the whole of the road stretched out before you.
breathtaking stuff!
had me grinning like a goon!

I drive from London to Ullapool 2-3 times a year
Leave at 4pm and drive straight through for the morning ferry. I love that stretch of road, it means kip is less than an hour away.

...
done that one, and if you ever get the chance, junction 40 of the M6. Head towards the coast.
Driving through the lakes and for 2 miles, there is a dual carriage way that is, well, a race track. It is perfect. My wife usually drives but I always do that bit!

yeah, nice views on that bit of the A66 but there's always a fair police presence...
what with that junction being 5 minutes from the regional police headquarters.
and you're heading towards Workington, which is never a good thing.
