back in the days of 1984 my dad and several of his friends
decided to have a beach bbq, we lived in lynton in north devon at the time so the sensible thing for me to do was to take my fishing gear and as i was probably the youngest member on the beach took my self of to the waters edge .
dad and friends had the bbq going wine and beer was going down like the titanic the sun was getting low and the mackerel had come in close to the shore, casting a string of feathers out past the shoal and trolling it back netted me 2 mackerel on the first pass and by the 4th pass i had a dozen or so .
from catching and gutting to cooking on the bbq was less than 5 mins , and since that day i have never tasted fish that good .

true enough
another occasion that springs to mind was again around that time period but fishing from the rocks at the base of holiday hill between lynmouth and the valley of the rocks very pleasant evening spent float fishing with a few small bites and then a couple of 7-8lb pollack didnt get to eat them fresh that evening but dinner the next day was a almost as good

as for rank eating? fishing of he rocks just past ilfracombe peir during the summer that year on very light gear and catching gar fish

see here www.sea-fishing.org/sea-garfish.html

a rather good catch and on light fishing gear can skip accros the sea on its tail but dear god dont try to eat it you can but you wouldnt want to once exposed to air the flesh turns green before your very eyes very of putting and pretty yukky on the flavor as well

sorry for spelling but i couldnt give a monkeys to night
