This is a question Redundant technology

Music on vinyl records, mobile phones the size of house bricks and pornography printed on paper. What hideously out of date stuff do you still use?

Thanks to boozehound for the suggestion

Modernist bollocks. The serpent, crumhorn and the hurdy-gurdy is where it's at.

Pah! Those aren't real instruments.
You want a log, a dead bear and some nettles.

When I was younger
we had musicians. Now they just press the dead bear and a song comes out.

One of my favourite public displays of ignorance and hypocrisy is Henry Rollins's rant about DJs.
He seems to think that producers of 'techno' just press a button and some 'techno' is produced. What an eejit.

He also seems to miss the fact that punk rock is one of the most rigidly conservative musical genres of all.

What makes it even more disappointing for me is that I fucking love Black Flag.

I hated that too.
He used to be one of my heroes.

Exactly.
That techno viking remix of his rant is a great riposte though.

It's not "real" music unless it's been recorded by earnest young white men in shirts and ties.

(, Sat 6 Nov 2010, 15:51, closed)
100% fact.

(, Sat 6 Nov 2010, 16:01, closed)
Pfft
don't you realise it provides a way for disempowered young people to express themselves musically?
(, Sat 6 Nov 2010, 18:34, closed)
I think
I think you should hide this in case Take That's lawyers read B3TA. Wouldn't want you facing down Jason Orange in court, see.
