Stone age tech
We have a Budlia (sp?) tree which grows out of the wall by our front door. There was a windy night recently and a big chunk half detached itself.
I used an axe to chop it down.

Actually named in honour of the Reverend Septimus Buddle, a vicar who unlike so many was keener on his garden than on his choirboys...

better for the butterfly bush if you use a saw next time.

I took mine out with a log saw...
Then dug the root out with a shovel.
Was a bigass root too - just about fitted in the boot to take to the dump.
