This is a question Books

We love books. Tell us about your favourite books and authors, and why they are so good. And while you're at it - having dined out for years on the time I threw Dan Brown out of a train window - tell us who to avoid.

I have literally just this second said this to someone else who said it was badly written,
but I suspect it is not so much that as that it is very dryly and clunkily translated.

likewise
I thought it might be the translation in places.

Did think it was a good read though, so much so I'm not sure I want to spoil it by seeign the film. also the ending was a good one, unexpected.

The second one was a bit guff but the 3rd pulls it back again. flip through the 2nd and then suspend all disbelief for the 3rd one as there are a few uncredited miracles in there.

The translation didn't bother me.
The way that noone could open a laptop without its make and screen-size being mentioned did.

And, come on: he was plainly fantasising about the possibility of having no-ties sex with several women, one of whom was a bit gay. On which topic: www.thedailymash.co.uk/news/arts-%26-entertainment/'girl-with-the-apple-tattoo'-sparks-product-placement-row-201201054730/

Yes.did think the same.

It irritated me in a product placement way but I also remember thinking "what a fantastic way to instantly date your book"

Like watching old films and thinking "half this story wouldn't have happened if they'd just had a mobile phone"
