This is a question Books

We love books. Tell us about your favourite books and authors, and why they are so good. And while you're at it - having dined out for years on the time I threw Dan Brown out of a train window - tell us who to avoid.

Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand
I often re-read it as it is such a ripping yarn.

Ayn Rand is a fecking right wing nutter and the book goes into great detail of her right-wing theories.

Her world is very black and white, her arguments are seriously flawed and a lot of people in the book are nothing but caricatures but I put all that aside because it is a gripping story.

I just couldn't hack through all the extraneous crap to get to the story.
I tried it once, on the very enthusiastic recommendation of a friend, and got about a hundred pages in before giving up. It doesn't even pretend to be a novel. It's so black-and-white a manifesto that the very colours of black and white themselves look a muddy grey in comparison.

Overly long
what happened to the editor?

Try some of John Steinbeck's if you like a decent looking yarn. highly recommended.
