We love books. Tell us about your favourite books and authors, and why they are so good. And while you're at it - having dined out for years on the time I threw Dan Brown out of a train window - tell us who to avoid.

In particular, the Armageddon Trilogy.
It features Elvis, Jesus, Jesus's twin sister Christeen, the Dalai Lama (Dan), a time travelling Brussels Sprout called Barry, Rex Mundi and his sister Gloria and the great detective Lazlo Woodbine.
And it's fucking ace.

Armageddon was definitely the high water mark. The original Brentford trilogy was great as well, but I think he did start to lose his way a little with later books.

Very few authors are consistently good. I think Terry Pratchett is maybe an exception. I find even his worst books excellent.
