I really hate phones..
and because of that I'm guilty of some of these things. Before I use the phone I have something I have planned to say, that way I hope to give information in a calm, polite way.
So.... when someone on the other end speaks to me, I speak out my script which is usually something like "Hello. I hope you can help me. What it is is that I sent in a form etc. etc.". As soon as I say it, I've just processed what the person on the phone has said previously, and is usually something like "Hello, I bet your calling in about a form you send in and I'm sat here ready and waiting to help you".
At that point I cringe and feel like a right twat.
People shouldn't use phones. People should come round your house in person and help you.
