Not so much the word but the usage.....You walk into something/trip over/have a minor mishap and somebody female/elderly/elderly and female will say "Careful!!"
I know they mean well but WTF does it mean? Don't do that again? Take more care next time you're in a similar situation?
I have to be careful not to assault them with a claw hammer for wasting words and breath.

It's a subtle and snidey insult dressed up as concern...In Ancient English, it's a shortened version
of '(Take) care fool!', care-fool becomes careful
