Antipodean slip-up
Many years ago I with drinking with some mates in the Princess Louise in Holborn in that there fancy London. All of the staff behind the bar were young, fun and seemed to be enjoying themselves as much as we were.

They were all talking about "... back home..." in Sydney, Perth, Melbourne etc. One of the girls behind the bar was really cute and was continually smiling and making eye contact with me.

Near the end of the night I plucked up courage and as I hate cheesey chat up lines I tried to strike up an ordinary conversation with her.

ME(Breezily):- Do you have to be Australian to work here?
HER (Frosty):- Actually mate I come from New Zealand.

Tumbleweed blew in through the icy landscape as I left.

I would have thought you could salvage that?
I'll admit I've not pulled the times I've made the Australian/New Zeelander, Canadian/American and Japanese/Chinese gaffes -- but the reason I didn't pul is because I'm ugly and boring not because of the gaffes.

Ah yes... there is a way around that
You just say: "Thank fuck for that! I can start using words with more than two sylables!" or "That's probably why I can actually understand what you're saying" or "Finally! Someone who doesn't think neighbours is better than Shakespeare!" or anything at all that puts shit on Aussies. The kiwis love nothing better that hearing how they're better than their cousins from across the Tasman. Because quite frankly they're not. Pack of dole bludging inbreds the lot of them.
Still, no reason not to shag their women though is it?

So, so true..
Problem with antipodean birds, is the lack of class that would put a Bullwell bird to shame..

If you're not sure, always assume they are New Zealand. Australians don't care if you're wrong and New Zealanders are impressed if you're right. Same with North America - if in doubt, assume Canadian. If they speak French, though, assume French, as real French people will be horribly insulted at the idea they might speak Quebecois, which is French for "Brummie"
