What nonsense did you believe in as a kid?
Ever thought that you could get flushed down the loo? That girls wee out their bottoms? Or that bumming means two men rubbing their bums together? Tell us about your childhood misconceptions. Thanks to Joefish for the suggestion.

helicockters
My daughter thought that helicopter was spelled and pronounced helicockter. When we finally disabuse her of the notion she was about 13. She didn't believe us until I showed it to her in a book.
Also took her till she was about 11 to realised banana wasn't balana.
Bless her!

Do you and your partner have speech defects?
That may explain it.

It's either that,
or the daughter has hearing problems.
Terrible parenting, either way.

Hmm,
this may explain why some adults still refer to skellingtons and chimberleys, they just never learn.

My mother in law
"arks" people for "somethink", and she's well into her 60's. Come to think of it my team leader at work also "arks" for stuff.

My daughter's grandmother
used to encourage her to use language that was cute rather than accurate, it took ages to get her to pronounce "lemonade" rather than "memmelade". Daft old biddy, use to remind me of Jabba, reclining on her side eating anything that came within reach.

Down syndrome kids can be so loving. Wouldn't change them for the world, etc
