This is a question I don't understand the attraction

Smaug says: Ricky Gervais. Lesbian pr0n. Going into a crowded bar, purely because it's crowded. All these things seem to be popular with everybody else, but I just can't work out why. What leaves you cold just as much as it turns everyone else on?

Jeremy Clarkson.
Essentially, Richard Littlejohn with dark hair and a better car.

Yet, he's not reviled.

Why?

He is reviled
but generally by the people who also revile Richard Littlejohn. Sadly lots of people read Littlejohn and think "Yeah, he's got that right" in the same way that they think "Yeah, that Clarkson really stuck to the PC brigade".

It's not just the, though.
The badly denimed one has a cult(did I spell that right?) following, they're not all 'PC gorn mad bleedin elf n safety' stypes.

I dunno.
I must confess I find Clarkson to be quite amusing. It's possibly because I take almost everything he says with a very large dose of salt.

I suspect that if I met him in person, and he was actually like his TV persona in real life, I would think him to be an utmost twat.

Oh that?
Just a persona- do you think James May is that dull in real life?
(, Mon 19 Oct 2009, 9:21, closed)
See, again I quite like James May
I don't find him dull at all. He just seems that way compared to the other two when they go over the top. There's something pretty awesome about anyone who does this.

He is a
Grade A prick.
(, Mon 19 Oct 2009, 9:19, closed)
Seconded

I
think it's because he's made it quite obvious that he isn't especially aiming to be taken seriously. He's not proposing real-life changes just soundbites that sound good on TopGear.

I find Clarkson to be an enigma.
I hate pretty much everything he says and does. But I have to admit through gritted teeth that he is a very, very good presenter.

The bastard.

nope

Littlejohn is a nasty shitebag, Clarkson is far from that.

Clarkson’s biggest failing is he can’t help picking up sticks and poking them in the eyes of “absolutists”, those humourless beings who know how every one else should behave and think, and will rain down righteous indignation on any who don’t toe the line.

It could be argued that poking people just to get a reaction is a bit childish, but modern day anti-christ he is not.

At least Clarkson has some wit, creativity and works hard.
Anyone who comes up with "The interior of this BMW is so grey it's like driving inside Eeyore's bottom" has got to be worth a moment of anyone's time.

Littlejohn just charmlessly spouts bile and vitriol.
