This is a question Common

Freddy Woo writes, "My wife thinks calling the front room a lounge is common. Worse, a friend of hers recently admonished her daughter for calling a toilet, a toilet. Lavatory darling. It's lavatory."

My own mother refused to let me use the word 'oblong' instead of 'rectangle'. Which is just odd, to be honest.

What stuff do you think is common?

"Tesco"
People who think it ends with an "s" are common

Thank you!
I keep referring to it "Tesco's" and feel dirty every time. I even pain over where the hyphen should be. Thank you for clarifying!

...then you are common.

Obsessed.
Was it you who had a go at me for this sin in last weeks QOTW?

No.
I have mentioned it once before, but that was weeks ago
(, Thu 16 Oct 2008, 17:51, closed)
Well I only go to
Waitrose or Sainsbury's.
Both of which end in an s sound, am I common.

Half agree.
But the other half of me cannot agree with you because a lack of "s" at the end makes the rhyme about someone buying their best clothes there redundant.
