This is a question Common

Freddy Woo writes, "My wife thinks calling the front room a lounge is common. Worse, a friend of hers recently admonished her daughter for calling a toilet, a toilet. Lavatory darling. It's lavatory."

My own mother refused to let me use the word 'oblong' instead of 'rectangle'. Which is just odd, to be honest.

What stuff do you think is common?

Not me, but a friend
(honest) wasn't allowed to watch ITV as a child.

Presumably her parents are unlikely to subscribe to Sky these days.

I was allowed ITV either!

I think it was to do with adverts and be then pestering my parents for toys!

Not a friend, but me
I remember as kid that itv in the afternoon was not allowed in our house, bbc only. For some reason it was ok to watch stuff like rainbow though which doesn't make sense.

Admittedly apart from Danger Mouse it was all crap anyway and the folks gave up once we were a certain age.
