My own mother refused to let me use the word 'oblong' instead of 'rectangle'. Which is just odd, to be honest.

they're bothcompletely different products? Marmite is yeast extract, Bovril is beef.
It's like her saying that her mother always insisted on buying marmalade because jam was common.
