Common
Freddy Woo writes, "My wife thinks calling the front room a lounge is common. Worse, a friend of hers recently admonished her daughter for calling a toilet, a toilet. Lavatory darling. It's lavatory."
My own mother refused to let me use the word 'oblong' instead of 'rectangle'. Which is just odd, to be honest.
What stuff do you think is common?

Chatham, Kent. Classy town, I tell you.
I think this picture says it all, really.

Sometimes there'll be a soggy sock or condom dangling from his finger, too.

I rather like it.
I want to have that pic blown up and put on the office wall.

It's a great photo, yes.
I think it was taken by Medway photographer Phil Dillon. He makes this grim town look a lot more interesting than it is ;)

yup
the old cone on the statue.
There's a statue of some guy on a horse outside the MOMA in Glasgow who is perma-coned

Being an ex-inhabitant,
I remember that statue well, on the run from the station into town, right? Unless some fucker's moved it in the 10 years since I've been there! It's a bit boring where I am now,in Jersey, there's a distinct lack of cone-foolery going on over here. And as for coming back, nah, bollocks, don't think I will, The Strand versus golden sand...go figure!
