My own mother refused to let me use the word 'oblong' instead of 'rectangle'. Which is just odd, to be honest.

EhmI doubt she was sucking them clean. Crappy iPod headphones have a tendency to crackle and sucking on them seems to sort it out, albeit temporarily.
Coincidentally, I'm pretty sure I learned that from a b3ta newsletter top tip.
