This is a question Common

Freddy Woo writes, "My wife thinks calling the front room a lounge is common. Worse, a friend of hers recently admonished her daughter for calling a toilet, a toilet. Lavatory darling. It's lavatory."

My own mother refused to let me use the word 'oblong' instead of 'rectangle'. Which is just odd, to be honest.

What stuff do you think is common?

some other things i find common
Farmfoods

Need i say more?

Loud Yawning

There's not a need to cover your mouth when yawning in public place - perhaps if you lower your head or your face is obscured by your collar etc you can get away with it - but there is definitely no need to yawn at 100dB in public is there?

Spitting on pavements

I'm not anti-spitting, i understand the need to do it. But don't spit on the fucking pavement! Spit in the road, it's much better

Poor Juvenile Graffiti

Well done graffiti pieces are a treat to behold. Even well drawn tags are palatable.

But piss poor juvenile cat scratchings are just awful.

Most especially though, the kind where the S is drawn as such but they don't have the mental capacity to create the other 25 letters of the alphabet in the same font (perfectly depicted in this wasters attempt at a W)

What is it with that 'S'?
Kids at most of the schools I have worked at seem to be obsessed with drawing it.

Where does it come from?

Same at my school
For awhile all the gals were doing it. I was curious too, since, as you can see, it's in my name (First 'nd last.)

However, as for where it comes from? Why everyone else was obsessed with it? Maybe they just liked my initials, I don't know.

I also doubt they were as fascinated with the geometry as I was. I don't think that's common.

That reminds me...
I mentioned this in the Graffiti QOTW a while back, but worth a repeat I think; The missus and I were house-hunting a few years ago. We visited one place and, as we parked up to look around, we spotted some graffiti on a nearby fence. We both looked at it and said "Awwwww!". It was the nicest graffiti we'd ever seen, and was one of the factors that convinced us to buy the house.

On the fence, in simple lettering, someone had sprayed the words 'I am the best'.

Bless.
