This is a question Common

Freddy Woo writes, "My wife thinks calling the front room a lounge is common. Worse, a friend of hers recently admonished her daughter for calling a toilet, a toilet. Lavatory darling. It's lavatory."

My own mother refused to let me use the word 'oblong' instead of 'rectangle'. Which is just odd, to be honest.

What stuff do you think is common?

Saturday night in Amble
Amble’s an… interesting place. I know a few people that live there, and they love it, coming from long lines of seafarers and fishermen.

But Saturday night in Amble… it’s a special occasion. The people of the town love their Saturday nights on the piss. The local chavs, in particular, like to make a special effort. Not for them trainers and tracksuits tucked into socks, oh no.

On Saturday nights, they wear proper shoes with their tracksuits.

Ah Amble
There was a young couple in Alnmouth, just next to Amble and they were getting frisky in a car parked on the beach.

The girl, in a moment of passion cried to her boyfreind:

"Kiss me where it stinks!!" and opened her legs wide.

So he drove her to Amble.

Cheers

pffft
Frankie Boyle spoke highly the other night about Port Talbot (an ample candidate for Amble's twin town :p) saying that Port Talbot looks like a holding pen for guests on the Jeremy Kyle show.

My touched (and adopted) home town
Although Amble is a lot less like the wild west these days, the chav scum really let us down - please note that this winter its Rockport shoes with trackie bottoms tucked into white sports socks. And as its cold a Helly Hansen jacket - the sort that if it looked at going to sea it would fall apart. The above is essential uniform for both lads and lasses when hanging around outside the Pizza shop (see also Co-Op Post Office, Caravan Site etc)

Now
that's classy.

We drove through Amble once. Very very fast, with all the doors locked.
