My own mother refused to let me use the word 'oblong' instead of 'rectangle'. Which is just odd, to be honest.

I pronounced Pilatesas rhyming with pirates, as I'd only seen it written down before. Then I said it outloud one day, and the girls in the office burst out laughing ^_^
