This is a question Complaining

I like writing letters of complaint to companies containing the words "premier league muppetry", if only to give the poor office workers a good laugh on an otherwise dull day. Have you ever complained? Did it work?

Apple
Bindun surely?

A few months back I bought a brand new 160gig Classic iPod. Took it home, charged it up, filled it with music, battery went flat in about 8 hours, which is far below the 36 hours quoted on the Apple website. Took it back to Harvey Norman and they were happy to replace it, they just had to get a confirmation call from Apple, in case they wanted to have their own people assess it.

It took them 5 days to get back to HN. Five bloody days. Every time I called up HN they were really nice and apologetic even though it wasn't their fault, but that was my debut first-hand experience of Apple emphatically not giving a toss about their customers.

Eventually got a replacement, but a bit too late for my satisfaction.

In the UK you're entitled to a replacement there and then, no need for authorisation from the manufacturer.
Is it different in Oz, or could they have been covering their arses with the manufacturer at your expense?

Over here, I'd have stood in the shop, arms folded, farting quietly until I got my replacement.

same in Australia
It's the retailer who's responsible for repair/replacement/refund, not the manufacturer. Also, you don't need the box it came in or any of the packaging. You paid for the device and it's irrelevant whether it was packed in a shiny box or a paper bag. On the rare occasion I've had to return stuff I take a printout of the relevant blurb from the web site of the relevant authority (DOCEP.WA.GOV.AU in WA, other states have their own). I've never needed to use it though as the service has been good.

I dunno how it is in Oz, I live in NZ =P

Like you, I would've refused to leave until I got what I wanted, but I've dealt with this kinda thing in a the past and I know that won't get the result I want. Most things will be replaced instantly, like my old DVD player a few years back, but because of Apple's policies its a bit more complicated with iPods and the like.

This is why I never understand the cult of Apple. They cost more, are harder to get sometimes and the company doesn't seem to like acknowledging that they made a mistake.

Love the name by the way, although I wish you hadn't blown up my dog Biscuit :(

Five Days?
That's outrageous! Apple only have about ten customers, so they should really be able to fix it within the hour. What utter cunts.
