What's weird about water? Other than that it's less dense in its solid state than in its liquid state. And that it has the second highest specific heat capacity of any known substance, after ammonia. But apart from that, what's weird about it?

Nobody really knew how it froze, not sure if they do yet.
Also it freezes faster from being boiling hot then being at room temperature.
It depends what is already disolved in it as to whether other things will dissolve -- some things disolve better in solutions than they do pure water.
I can't recall the others but there are lots of things which are weird about DHMO.

when it freezes it solidifies from the outside in. I think im right in saying that everything else does this in reverse. If water didn't do this, there would be no life here.
