Controversial Beliefs
Some mugs still think the MMR injection gives children autism (it doesn't), while others are of the belief that we're ruled by billionaire lizard people. Tell us about views outside the mainstream which people go glassy eyed if you bang on about them (Your grandad's a racist - no need to tell us, thanks)

I believe that
... anyone in charge of repairing road surfaces should be forced to ride a motorcycle over their repair twice a day for at least 3 months after supposedly "finishing" it.
When their last filling drops out and their second retina detaches from the sickening, bone-crunching, suspension-wrecking jolt caused by the allegedly flat surface they left behind, maybe they'd do a better job next time.

Yes and save 50% on manpower by
ditching the guy who identifies the pothole and puts chalk round it.
Train the guy who does the filling in to recognise a hole when he sees one and he can fill it in while he's there.

Driven across tower bridge recently?
Nice tramlines on the approach, 3 - 4" wide, just perfect for steering you into the path of an oncoming bus.
Then you get the ruts at the end, that do the same thing, but more gently.

Welcome to Edinburgh
Tram lines with more to come, coupled with some of the worst roads I've encountered in Britain. I have friends who refuse to buy road bikes for cycling in Edinburgh because the potholes are so bad.

If you don't know what I'm talking
about, you don't ride a bike, so should put a sock in it.

Oh shit, how I agree with the OP.
My Honda* (as mentioned a while ago on a different thread)hit a pothole and has caused damage to my driver's side door, my headlights, one of my brakelights and completely disabled my newly repaired electric roof.
Unfortunately I'd taken a wrong turning and was on an A road and not sure of my location.
Belay my last! I can't agree with this post. It's not irrational nor controversial.
