Controversial Beliefs
Some mugs still think the MMR injection gives children autism (it doesn't), while others are of the belief that we're ruled by billionaire lizard people. Tell us about views outside the mainstream which people go glassy eyed if you bang on about them (Your grandad's a racist - no need to tell us, thanks)

I had an idea the other day that spooked me slightly
If aliens wanted to take over our planet, then using their supremely advanced weapons would be A) too easy, and B) likely to destroy everything valuable on the planet.
So instead it might make more sense from their point of view to infiltrate us and slowly change our way of thinking into their way of thinking. Not only conquering us, but conquering us with minimal fighting. Of course there would be those that resisted and those ones would have to be made an example of, but the majority would go along with it, many actively but most passively.
Let's say that if they wanted to do this, they would be better off doing it in a period before we got properly industrialised but after we had started to accept that there might be more to life than serving your feudal lord.
Perhaps they would find a continent unknown to the most developed parts of the world, form a colony there founded upon their principles and slowly (from our point of view) use that colony to take over the rest of the planet with carefully regimented propaganda, so that eventually everyone on the planet was singing their tune.

I've always meant to watch that but never got round to it
Is it good? Does it risk further loosening my grip on reality?

Fucking good
Rarely would I recommend a movie more.
Unless maybe it was Repo Man.
Watched the Hobbit last night. It could've been a Christopher Tolkien book.

Has one of the silliest fight scenes in any film ever
It goes on for about 5 mins. They batter each other. Over putting on a pair of magic specs

By silliest, you mean best, right?
Or maybe you weren't seeing it right and need to put on the glasses?

Missed the mark yet again old man.
Messers Dick, Huxley, Bradbury and Bester would be horrified.

I wonder
Does that fact do anything to change the likelihood of it being true?

Well that certainly explains why the Brazilian football team is so good.
