Well,Sit down and work out how much rent you would have paid in the three years, and then see how much you could buy your house for now compared to then.
My house has dropped somewhere in the region of £15-20,000 in the last three years so I'd just about have been even I reckon, possibly a bit better off owning it than renting. I bet you're still better off too for having bought the house and 'lost' money on it. It's not the disaster people assume it is. The market will come back.
