This is a question Desperate Times

Stranded in a hotel in an African war zone with no internet access for two weeks, I was forced to resort to desperate measures. Possessing only my passport and the clothes I stood up in; and the warning "You can catch it shaking hands with a vicar out there" ringing in my ears, I had to draw my own porn in order to preserve my sanity.

Alas, it all came out looking like Coronation Street's Audrey Roberts, but, as they say, any port in a storm.

What have you done in times of great desperation?

Desperate is...........
Living on potatoes for two weeks when money ran out.
Fishing down the back of the sofa to find busfare to go sign on.
Selling my cello to pay rent.
Buying a decaying transit van so I would have somewhere to live when I went bankrupt.
Ah.. Happy days!

I hope you managed to buy another cello...
...or had another one to use.

I know the horror of selling instruments because you're skint.

And I regretted selling my USA custom Ibanez for every day for many years afterwards...

As any bluesman will tell you
you're not a *real* musician until you've had to hock your woodwork.

Ouch.
I had to sell an antique instrument once. As it was one of those bizarre autoharp things that were popular around 1900 I didn't even get very much for it. I still regret letting it go...
