This is a question My Biggest Disappointment

Often the things we look forward to the most turn out to be a huge let down. As Freddy Woo puts it, "High heels in bed? No fun at all. Porn has a lot to answer for."

Well, Freddy, you are supposed to get someone else to wear them.

What's disappointed you lot?

Constant Annual Disappointment
Along with about 2% of you, my birthday is very near christmas.

The 2%ers know what's coming next...
"Instead of two presents, we just got you one BIG present"

No, you didn't, you tight bastard. You just got one average present and conned me out of my rightful inheritance, or whatever.

If I'd been born in June, I'd have had at least 200 more presents than I have had.

To all potential parents: don't shag at easter, unless all your relatives are loaded. It will lead to a lifetime of disappointment and early-onset scepticism.

And all you "One BIG present" arseholes; go fuck yourself, you're not fooling anyone.

My friend
has his birthday on Boxing Day. And he still upsets himself every year by having a party on that day, to which no one turns up.

no.
if you had been born in June you would have had exams and revision and ghastliness on your birthday.

not 200 presents. just exams. and then being "too old" for presents.

It's crap, isn't it?
I don't get the BIG present, though..

I get the standard Christmas presents.

And then, 12 days later, on the 6th of January, the day I had the sheer temerity to be born on.. I get the excuses. Payday's next week. The shops were sold out. We'll get you something good in February / March / Juvembuary.

And they never do.

Sometimes, becoming French is somewhat appealing...

Actually...
IMO the best time for a birthday is early November. It's just far enough into the year to avoid most exams, the return to school/uni/whatever, but far enough away from Christmas to avoid the "one big present" fiasco.

August is a bit crap
When you're a kid, you can't have a party as all your mates are away on holiday. I'm February, which gives the shops time to restock and gives the winter a bit of a lift.

no no
my birthday is 11 november and it is not good. firstly you still get stung with the "one big present" cop out. secondly you can never ever have nice outdoor parties and summery things.

and thirdly, all your friends point out that you were born about 9 months after valentine's day......... you should never ever play the 9 month game. you always find your birthday is 9 months after new years eve or a parent's birthday or something that makes you shudder........

bet you're all doing it now, though!

I was with my friend hanging out in his bedroom when we were both about 16. He was filling out a birthday card.

Him " I have alot of birthdays around this time of year"

Me "yeah loads of people are born in November. hmm eleven takeaway nine is two so they were conceived in February. ...Valentines day!"

His mum laughed louder than the both of us.

I feel your pain.
I got palmed off with the "one big pressie" crap as well. All through my childhood.

My kids do NOT have December birthdays, thank dog. Actually, no thank their parents, cos I wanted spring/early summer babies (to get the summer off on maternity leave)
