Faking it
Rakky writes, "We've all done it. From qualifications to orgasms, everyone likes to play 'let's pretend' once in a while."
So when have you faked it? Did you get away with it? Or were your mendacious ways exposed?

i have a scandinavian name, which i managed to convince them was czechoslovakian. it was but a small step from there to convince them that my great-great-great-whatever had been his lover and had his kids.

Vlad the Impaler's actual name
was Vlad Drăculea, which anglicises as "Dracula". Bram Stoker took the name for his book.

am I wrong in thinking that
the Draculea thing was in some way related to a title awarded his father by the Pope?
I have a recollection of enjoying a biography of the pleasant fellow.

indeed
The title dragul was awarded to his father by Sigismund of Luxemburg, the german "Kaiser", as Vlad II entered the order of the Dragon. So the title of his son translated to "son of the dragon" in romanian, or also "son of the devil". The title "Impaler" actually came from the turks he was fighting.
If i remember correctly, Erzsebet Bathory, the legendary blood countess, was a descendant of his.
I know more than a couple of people who claim to be from the same bloodline.
