Event Horizon
Laurence Fishburne, Sam Neill, Joely Richardson and some other people. If you like sci-fi you'll probably love it. If you like horror you'll probably love it. I like both and thought it was the one of the greatest experiences ever. Plus it rolls the credits with The Prodigy's "Funky shit" which, after seeing the film, makes perfect sense. Fantastic!

No no no no no!
All I remember about this is a sphere of some sort and the fact that I was very scared. I saw it young-ish and know not to watch it again even though I can't remember why.

ah
an excellent horror movie.
sam neill also stars in another one, in the mouth of madness. maybe not quite as scary as event horizon but well worth a watching.

I may have to disagree quite strongly...
...they both started out really well - I even forgave Event Horizon for its laughably dodgy science - but then they just got silly.
I think the problem is that no matter how much effort they put into the monsters (ok, Sam Neill turned inside-out in EH), they just look daft. This is the same reason I like the first Alien film but none of the follow-ups - it's actually more exciting when you don't see the monster.
For balance, I should now contradict myself and admit that I do love old-school Dr Who...
