She took of her swimsuit, showered the chlorine off, then went to help.
Frankly I think you've some repressed feelings about your own mother if you find this odd. Women aren't sex objects, you know, and they may not always realise they're having a clothing problem. Heck, some even care about their kids and other people's kids.
