This is a question Things we do to fit in

"When I was fifteen," writes No3L, "I curled up in a Budgens trolley while someone pushed it through the supermarket doors to nick vodka and Benny Hedgehogs, just to hang out with my brother and his mates."

What have you done to fit in?

Ricky Gervais...
You read his interview in the Sunday Telegraph the other day didn't you?
Hehehe... that comment had me giggling like a loon all day! I've been patiently waiting for the opportunity to use that comment but you beat me to it. Bastard.

Sorry
That line is as old as the hills. Might even be a Dave Allen line.

I heard it as a kid in about 1970....

Ricky Gervais, like most comedians, rips off lines wherever he thinks he can get away with it...

Cheers

In fairness....
...I know I'm in the minority on the boards in liking Ricky Gervais (possibly because I don't have to share a country with him), but I only heard him use the line in 'The Office' when he was playing a twunt who ripped off comedy gags badly as a bit.

Though if he used it in an interview, that's just not cricket.

...
in the interview he said he was actually quoting his mum which is why I found it so funny. He said she had a wicked sense of humour and he learned a lot about comedy from her. She must have been a Dave Allen fan too.

Sorry Legless, not trying to imply you're ripping off Ricky Gervais (or his mum's) quotes. Reading the quote twice in as many days, coming from someone who also lives in Oz and so could feasibly have read the same paper, I drew what I thought was a logical conclusion. I stand corrected, you obviously borrow your quotes from far superior comedians which is perfectly fine to do, unless, of course, you're Ricky Gervais ;)

Cheers :P
