Spimf says: I've always enjoyed listening to Pink Floyd, but lately I've noticed if my iPod plays any of their tracks, I skip them. I'm starting to realise I've gone off them. What have you gone off lately?

it's not some up and coming site encouraging new members in a supportive atmosphere, that's rob's other more important project now.
Instead it's a once great site in slow but inevitable decline, and myself and others enjoy a bit of well-directed abuse for the lively theatre it is.
Now, as to your example, if I was actually some real-life spastic or mouth-breather, I'd like the fact that I can get abused in a spirit of equality

/talk used to be where all the shitflinging went on.
It used to be that QOTW was something of a refuge, but the halfwits who crapped up /talk noticed there was more going on here and brought their shitflinging with them. There's pretty much no difference now.
It's not lively theatre when 90% of the posts are someone slagging someone else off. Not for me, anyway.

but now it's different, and no amount of whining is going to change it. Each week I write an anecdote for QOTW if I've got one, because like a mad old uncle, I like to tell stories. I don't let the occasional shit that comes my way bother me or cause me to write accusatory rants instead of me stories. If you did the same, the site would be more like you want it to be

I still do post proper answers, but they get lost in the static. What is the point of that?
Anyway, I can't disagree with you. Most of what I post now is just done to irritate the puppies. The fact there are still posters here who disagree with them gets right under their skin.

b) the 'noise' in which they are lost is made up almost entirely of self-obsessed pity threads like this one that you are currently defending

She used to say things like "Get up you lazy bugger, you're not dead yet".
They loved her for it. They appreciated her honest attitude, rather than the usual patronising, faux-sympathy they got from everyone else.

Did she ever go in and say 'Ha ha, you're going to be dead before Christmas, you fucking dick'?
Maybe she told them to stop lying around in bed all day sponging off taxpayers, and go get a job?
No. Probably not.

It amazes me how it is still there
