Advice for parents
Never tell your kids "if it was good enough for me, it's good enough for you".

At an open evening at my kids' school where you could explore the options you could take for GCSE etc, with each department putting on small promotional display and so on, I heard a parent say that to his kid.

Also, if you don't agree with school's handing out homework, make sure you don't tell your kids. At a parent's evening once, I heard a parent telling a teacher that he doesn't agree with homework and he didn't want his kid being given any.

I don't know which I was more disgusted at.

I was sitting next to a teacher on the train a couple of years ago, who was marking sums.
We got chatting, and I noticed that

A: She was using a green pen, and B: She was ticking correct answers and putting "C" for wrong ones.

On enquiry, I was interested to learn that red pen is now perceived as too aggressive, and that "C" means "Correction needed", as an X is - like the above use of red pen - too aggressive.

And verily I dydde weepe.

I'm sure someone on here said
Never trust someone who writes in green ink. Unless it's in moderation and you're a girl doing a biology project.

My daughter is at junior school and gets weekend homework
...which I disagree with, as she is only doing work that they should have done in class instead of pissing about watching videos and having water fights to celebrate the end of their SATS.

I feel your pain.
I despair with the attitude of some parents towards the efforts their progeny should or shouldn't be required to make. I am not and will never be a perfect parent (or frankly a very good one at that) but I like to think that my kids' teachers have a fair grasp of what they are doing most of the time. The number of parents I know who do homework for their issue on a regular basis is scary.
